Roughin' it, Take One

Scott decided that before our Labor Day Weekend camping trip we should do a test run in our new tent, so that first, he could figure out how to set it up, and second, we could see if how Harlie would sleep. On Friday, Harlie helped daddy put up the tent and then after dinner and the 45 minutes we spent in vain looking for sleeping bags and air mattresses, we posted up out back in our tent. We watched a little Monsters, Inc. on the laptop, read a few books and listened to Harlie chatter until about 10:30 when she finally passed out. In a shocking turn of events, Austin opted to forgo the camp-out and play video games inside all night.

Not sure what look Harlie's going for here.

Waiting for the gaming to begin.

We hauled Harlie's crib mattress outside.

We slept on about 6 blankets.

Flashlight Fun

At about 3:45am Harlie woke up cold and ended up in bed between Scott and I, which is always a mixed blessing. I slept even worse than I already had that night on our still very hard bed of blankets, but waking up to this was just so sweet:

  1. I lingered on that last photo of Harlie sleeping for what seemed like a half an hour. SO precious. My, these have to be my new favorite photos of her. Great pics of you and her and of the whole fam (minus A-man). Can't wait for out little bugaboos to explore the woods together. This shall be an adventure...maybe a bit different from Ice House, but fun all the same! You guys are fun with the dry run! Ah, gotta check o that mattress...

  2. You guys are such fun and sweet parents to do a test run in the back yard! I love it! Harlie looks more and more like you everyday. She is just beautiful. Like Keri, the last photo just took my breath away. She's gonna do great camping! I can't wait to see pics of her and her cousins camping out, it's seriously going to make my heart burst out of my chest.

Lol, Austin's like "are you people crazy? I'm stayin' inside"

  3. 1) Harlie's outfit is crackin' me up! She and Elinor should exchange fashion tips. ;-)
    2) "In a shocking turn of events..." That line made me giggle. What "cool" parents you guys are allowing him to play video games into the night!
    3) Harlie looks SO much older in the photos from inside the tent with her hair down and brushed smooth, except for...
4)...the last one of her sleeping, where you can still catch a glimpse of the last bit of baby in her. She looks like a precious little angel. And I still can't get over the color of her lips! She'll never need lipstick.

    Super cute post, E.

  4. Ali, Keri and I were just talking about how we love to look at our sleeping toddlers because it brings back the baby in them. Probably not for much longer though. Sniff Sniff.

  5. Erin, I still see the goobiness in Roo when she sleeps. I think it's lasts a bit longer. I'm hopeful anyway. ;)
