Happy Birthday Mazzy May!

Dear Mazzy,

Today you turn 5 years old.  You are growing into such a lovely young lady and Uncle Scott, Austin, Harlie and I love you so very very much.  I just wanted to take a moment to wish you a Happy Birthday and list (Auntie Erin LOVES lists) just some of the many things that make you so special.

Your big bright spirit could light a thousand football stadiums.  And boy do you love to perform.  The way you hold that one leg up when you dance, like you created that signature move is THE best. What's even better is that Harlie copies her big cousin and tries to do it too.  But I'll tell ya, nothing beats the original.  You were born to be noticed and taken seriously.  I can't wait to see more.

Gosh darn creative is what you are!  Watching you play pretend and receiving your beautiful handmade cards is always a special treat.  There is one particular drawing you made of a ladybug and I think you were replicating one of your storybook covers. It's one my favorites and in the picture that your mom took of you with it, you can tell that you're pretty proud of it too. I hope you always remain so confident and self -assured.  It will serve you well in your adolescent years I promise...and your mama will back me up on this one.

The other day at your party, you crawled into my lap as we were all watching the play at Fairytale town and I couldn't believe how big you were.  My little Mazzilicious with eyes like huge pools of chocolate pudding that I just want to dive into, and those sweet little dimples...I've always said you were the first little baby to steal my heart.  And now along with your little brother, you two bring me such joy.   Thanks for being such a wonderful cousin to Harlie...and the best little niece ever!

XOXO

Auntie Erin

  1. It's getting late and the Mister is boiling with a fever and I am praying that the girls are sleeping but I just wanted to quickly say that this brought tears to my eyes, Erin. When I started reading about her crawling into your lap, I was done for. Thank you for always being there for her, for your endless one-on-one babysittin' times and the way you light up when she enters the room. She loves you so much and knows that she is well loved by you.

  2. Erin, such a beautiful letter to Maz. I love hearing about your special bond with her. She's lucky to have such a cool, smart, pretty Auntie like you! I love that you said she was the first baby to steal your heart. Precious.

  3. Oh, Erin. This is one of the sweetest things I've ever read. In my life. I don't know if this was intentional, but the "voice" of your writing in this post is playful and almost child-like. I LOVE THAT!!! It is such a perfect fit for the content.

Also: love the line about her eyes being big pools of chocolate pudding. Aren't they, though?!

What a lucky girl, to have an Auntie like you!

  4. I feel like like gets away from me and I don't take enough time to spend with her and Max...quality time. I want Mazzy to know how very much I love her and how special she is.
