So. Fine. I finally gave into the peer pressure. And if you know me, (which of course you do or you wouldn't be reading my super secretive blog) you know I don't give in easily to peer pressure. My sister has been begging me to adopt a seedling or two from her, and I just recently succumbed and took home a tiny little cherry tomato plant. I had a pot at home for it, but needed to pick up some potting soil and a tomato cage. I decided to bring Harlie with me to Green Acres because I knew she'd love looking at all the pretty flowers. What's funny is that what she ended up loving the most was a big metal gorilla sculpture.
So we went, and then we came back with just a few other things, because Harlie's two and I forgot about the "I want this Mama", and "look at this, I want this one and this one and this one MAMA!"
Too make a long story even longer, in addition to our cherry tomato plant we ended up with a strawberry plant, and a trifecta of herbs; purple sage, basil and cilantro.
And just look at my adorable new babies!
Thanks gals, for the inspiration! I like having a new project. God, I hope I don't kill them all.
Oh, you make me laugh Erin, the way you word things...I love reading your posts! I'm so relieved you took at least one off my hands and look what a cozy little home you made for it! Fun little herb trifecta, too! I'll have to keep an eye out for your strawberries, that is if H doesn't get to pickin' them all first! :)
ReplyDeleteHa, Keri, you're still logged in as me! :-) Thanks for the nice comment though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou will so not kill them! They will do great and you'll be so glad you did it! Fun little thing to do with Harlie on the weekends too...watering, checking for insects, and eventually, the best of all: harvest! :) You guys will have so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI have to say it again: I love that you're on my Google Reader now. :) Great post!
Also, purple basil is super pretty! I'm always drawn to it in the nursery. I'll be interested to see what you think of the flavor. I've never tried it before. Have you?
ReplyDeleteThe purple sage was Harlie's pick, but Keri has some growing and there is a particular chicken recipe I make all the time that calls for sage, so I thought it would be a handy herb to have around. I have never tried the purple variety and am curious to see how it compares to regular ol' sage.
ReplyDeleteOh, purple SAGE. My mom has purple basil. Well, they're both purty. :)
