This weekend's track meet was a pretty big deal around our house. Austin participated in two events and smoked them all! He came in first place in both the 800 meter and 1600 meter (1 mile) races! Aust has been placing very well the last few weeks, but this was the first time he placed 1st in all of his events. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree, and like his dad, Austin is super duper competitive. It is fun to see him enjoying track so much and seeing him excel at it is also a treat! After his first race, he was also interviewed by a reporter, who asked questions like "What were you thinking after your first lap?" and "What kept you motivated throughout the race?" Austin thought that was the coolest. I do too!
This is so impressive! Look at those metals! I would be SO proud to see my kid win, what fun these meets must be for the family! I cannot believe he has a full goatee. Looks good!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of him! I love that he's like this track star now...he's always been a great student and now a real bona fide star athlete. Way to go, Austin!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, way to go Erin and Scott who have always supported his extra curricular activities...driving to and fro and such. You guys are great parents!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome that he's found a sport that he not only enjoys but excels at! (poopy grammar there, too lazy to re-word) You and Scott must have felt so proud in the moment. I can imagine you two in the bleachers, huge silly grins on your faces, cheering on your boy. The thought of that makes me really happy. :) How does Harlie do at the meets?
ReplyDeleteHarlie and I didn't go to this one because Harlie was sick...Scott took these photos (I should have given him credit). Harlie does great. She gets excited to see him run and there are also the field events like pole vaulting which are super entertaining to watch for all of us. We have to try and time it so we arrive around his events because of course she gets antsy if she has to wait too long. It's an all day thing and he runs anywhere from 2-4 events, so we usually get to see two of them, if we time it right.
ReplyDeleteLast Wednesday he competed in 4 events and won 3 1st places! Harlie and I were there for that one, since it was at Cordova and that was super cool to see!
