- Scott and I decide to make Harlie a doctors appt for her mysterious rash, which seems to be getting worse.
- Scott comes down with a fever and bad cough after recently getting over a pretty gnarly cold. I'm convinced he's come down with Pneumonia and beg him to call the advice nurse. He schedules an appt. for himself for 3:30 today but will later decide to cancel the appt. because his fever is gone. As I hear him hacking in the bedroom this very instant I still think he needs antibiotics.
- Scott and I both had promotional exams early this morning, and since the testing was being done at headquarters we had to take two cars.
- Mom comes over to stay with Harlie and take her to the doc. After rushing to get out of the house on time and as I try to start the car, I can't get it out of park. Neither can Mom, so I chuck the carseat that was in the Civic into moms car, hoping she can get it installed and rush off to work in the Civic. I'm 3 minutes late getting logged on to the phones (which is a bigger deal than it sounds).
- After my exam which I think went pretty well, I call BounceU to finalize plans for Harlie's 3rd birthday party on Saturday.
- When I call my mom on my lunch hour she informs me that Dr. Wang has diagnosed her with Hand Foot Mouth disease.
- I then call Jessica to inform her that the two days Harlie was in her care with what I thought was eczema, was really a contagious virus that can cause mouth sores.
- 3:00 break - Call the doc to get more info, 4:15 break - call Jessica to pass on info from the doc and to tell her I'll be staying home with Harlie tomorrow.
- 6:00pm - I meet up with Sara and Ariel for wine and cheese and some much needed chatter and comic relief, the absolute highlight of this craptacular day.
- Tomorrow I call BounceU and cancel Harlie's birthday party.

ReplyDeleteI've never written that ever in the history of my life but all I want to do right now is give you one, Sis!
I'm so sorry for ALL of this. I feel helpless and I'm not sure how I can make nay of this any better but I think having H's party at your house and giving her one heck of an old fashioned "house party" will suit her just fine! The kids will have a blast! You're baby is THREE Erin, THREE!!! How did this happen!!??
Do you need any help with the last minute party plans? Can we help pick up anything on the way...just let me know.
If anyone were to make a day less craptacular (totally appropriate and awesome uses of crap and spectacular btw)it would be Sara and Ariel, wise choices!
Love you like SO much.
That is the craptackiest 24 hours EVER. I so am sending you love today. I was wondering why you were at home today.
ReplyDeleteIs Harlie going to be okay in time for her party? Is she sad about BounceU? What about Scott? Is he feeling any better? Did the other kids at DC get handmouthfootwhatever?
Wow, I'm surprised in all that you had time to go out for drinks and relax a bit, awesome!
I hope this next 24 goes smoothly. Man, can someone give my friend Erin a break please?
Keri's comment made me all goosebumpy and weepy. You two are so sweet to each other. Makes me want a sister and twin kids bad.
BIG Squishy Squeezy Hugs and KISSES!
Awww, you poor thing. Sending hugs your way. I had hand, foot, mouth disease when Olivia was about 10 mos. old and passed it to her. We all made a full recovery and Harlie will, too, but I'm sorry she's so sick.
ReplyDeleteI think house parties can be pretty spectacular! I have decorating supplies if you want to come borrow any! Happy Birthday to your little sweetheart!
Uh, oh. Mel lurched forward with "craptackiest".
ReplyDeleteStef, you should be a fancy schmancy birthday planner. :)
You guys are all so so sweet. Thanks for the hugs, I can sure feel them. :-)
ReplyDeleteKeri, I may ask for your help in picking up some Costco pizzas??? I'm not going to make any elaborate sudden-change-in-location party plans or purchases just in case she's still sick so we'll have to make do with what we got. :-)
Mel, Scott is still sick but he says feeling better. Harlie actually just came down with a fever today, so we pushed the party to Sunday and it will only be family. Harlie had been told she was having a bounce party, but then last night we kind of hyped her up on the house party idea like nothing had changed "Harlie, so are you excited for grandma and papa and nana and Mazzy and Max to come over and celebrate your birthday this weekend?!" ;-) I was holding my breath but she didn't say "What about my bounce party?" So that's good. I had a semi combined bounce/princess theme in mind, so I'll just roll with the princessyness instead. Again, the original plan was for it to be at a bounce house place so an impressively decorated and catered birthday this will not be. Also, so word that anyone else has gotten HFM, so fingers crossed.
Stef, you're lucky you don't live closer or I'd be raiding your closets. Thanks for the offer, it is so incredibly sweet of you.
Goodness, Erin, you DO need a hug! That day sounded absolutely horrendous; I don't think I would have survived! But you are a far stronger a woman than I. :) I hope this week is starting out FAR more smoothly for you, love.
